![]() ![]() ![]() That being said, I found LibreCAD's printing has serious limitations. I used AutoCAD daily for my work for about 10 years, and I can tell you that I don't miss the model space/paper space paradigm. 00#p292004 (go back in the topic, it's worth it) Have a look at forum member regis' screenshots here. But you still can create 2D geometry in the 3D space, then create 2D views from it on a TechDraw page, including dims and annotations. In FreeCAD, that's the job of the TechDraw workbench. This paradigm is replaced with a module dedicated to producing scaled views of the geometry extracted from the 3D space, and to which you apply your dimensions directly on paper, rather than in the 3D space. Basically we're talking about viewports from the paper space to the 3D space. paper space is an AutoCAD invention which does not exist in most other CAD programs that are not influenced by AutoCAD. I wish FreeCAD had it, but as is made abundantly clear, 3D is the main focus. To be honest, that stuff drove me bat sh!t crazy, since CAD is a small part of my job. You're a smart guy, you will figure it out.Īlso, as far as I can tell, there is no model space/paper space. Note that it wants to convert every file in a directory, so if you want to only try one, just create a temp directory somewhere and copy your test case into it. One of the FreeCAD regulars posted it, was not my original search. I have not had the time to play with it I came here to try the Assembly4 beta. Something else I found, right on this forum, was this OpenDesign dwg dxf converter. ![]() Too bad the two projects couldn't be put together. Also, as far as I can tell, there is no model space/paper space. Honestly looks like the release candidate of LibreCAD has most of what I need, its just that its sufficiently different. I had problems with colors on the layers in LibreCAD,I had to go into the layer manager and change the colors. I can't remember if I had issue with units, pretty much have to use inches since that is what architects and construction workers use. Then paste all that into a new drawing, again, do not use select all. Compare price, features, and reviews of the software side-by-side to make the best choice for. If you have infinite rays or lines, usually construction lines/rays, just manually select them (by clicking on them most likely). Go to Model page (probably the one with the black background, draw a window around everything (but do NOT select all!!!) and copy. After some attempts, I found out you need to copy just the Model and not other stuff. Dassault Systems offer DraftSight for about 150, which is available in Fedora and Ubuntu LINUX flavors, but, other than that, the LINUX CAD landscape is pretty. One of things I learned was that if you have a "Paper Space" or like a print layout, you are going to have trouble. 2D has obvious limitations.Īt work I was giving LibreCAD a try. I am using DraftSight to do 2D drawings of my work room with model trains on the floor, and layout of a room at work. You can use the product perpetually and get upgrades during the first 12 months.I am in a similar situation.
